I'm trying to install Premiere Pro 1.5 on windows 10 Pro.

Installation gets to installing DirectX 9b and errors out with error 0x80040703, Description failed to find DLL function: DSETUP.DirectXSetupA. The install then terminates. Any suggestions?

Project won't save

Has anyone had experience with projects not wanting to save?  I mentioned the other day that I installed Windows 7 64-bit on a second partition, so now I can dual-boot with XP 32-bit or Windows 7.  7 has been working great so far except for this one project we have (that I had been working on in XP for the past three months) will not save in Windows 7.

When I choose save or hit Ctrl+s, the save dialog box comes up, but the bar never fills at all and the program stops responding.  I'm not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem, or just this project acting funny for some reason.  If I have to finish this project in XP, so be it, but I have noticed improvement in rendering times, etc with Windows 7 and it actually uses our 8 gigs of RAM, so I'd like to stick with it as much as I can.  Like I said, other projects seem to be fine.

If anyone has any suggestions of something to try, let me know.

Thanks.

How do I fix audio synch drift?

I am editing a concert shot with a Canon XHA1s with 48 kHz audio from the onboard mic. Someone handed me a file that was recorded with a Zoom H4 in 44.1 kHz. At about 7 minutes, the clips drifted 5 frames out of synch, which is very noticable. I figured the best thing to do was to adjust the speed/duration of the slower clip by 5 frames, but it did not work. You can see the waveforms line up perfectly on the timeline, but it still plays back out of synch.

I also tried to convert the 44.1 file to 48 kHz, but that did inothing.

Is there a better way to synch up audio?

Can I recover an audio file from CFA/ PEK file?

Hello all:

I've somehow "lost" some important audio files, and the only related artifacts I can find are the .CFA and .PEK files in Adobe's "Media Cache Files" folder.

Any ideas on how I might recover a usable audio file from there?

Many thanks,

Resetting the title window - is it possible?

Somehow, my title dialog has gotten supremely messed up. The actual Title pane has a working area of about 12 pixels by 12. I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, short of re-installing the application. I am stumped.

I've changed the workspace. I've started the app with Ctrl+Shift+Alt pressed to reset the preferences. I've closed, opened, maximized, minimized and restored panels. Nothing helps. You can see the title area right above the cursor, at the top, near the left corner. I can't grab it and drap it out. I can't do anything with it, and I can't do titles in a 12x12 window. The title tools - select, etc. - seem to have disappeared altogether. What haven't I tried?

Automating Subtitles in Premiere?

$

Having gone round the forums all day I still can't find an answer to this.

I have to produce a duplicate video of my 4 min edit with burned in foreign language subtitles ( not a separate stream or anything). Many examples talk about importing subtitles with timecode into Encore but I'm making a standalone video for the web (WMV), not DVD or BluRay, so I need to do it in Premiere.

In Premiere I can manually copy text into titles and manually sync them using timecode ref, but isn't there a faster way as this might take around a day to do manually.

I've picked up on Subtitle Workshop   http://www.urusoft.net/products.php?cat=sw

but this just seems to reformat timecode text files ( into SAMI, etc) and does not render them out as anything I can directly import into Premiere.

Is there any useful import method into Premiere that just works with the timecode file to create a seamless animated subtitle/ sequence of subtitles? Or is there some text animation program that will allow me to render out the file (as frame sequence or quicktime with alpha)  and then import that as footage into Premiere?

Any help gratefully received - using CS4 production bundle on a pc.

Can I get a serial number for Premiere CS4? I run a 32 bit system and can't run the CC or CS6 version.

I talked to Adobe support and they gave me a download link for Premiere CS4, but refused to provide a serial number since it was an old, unsupported product. They told me to go through the forum to get a serial number.

Before anyone tells me to just buck up and get a 64 bit system--Adobe does provide 32 bit alternatives through CC for other apps. For instance, I downloaded Lightroom CS5 through CC as an alternative to the CC and CS6 versions. Lightroom CS5 works fine on my system. I don't see why Adobe can't do the same for Premiere.

Adobe Premiere Pro (CS4) Not Responding

$

My Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 keeps on crashing, giving me the message "Adobe Premiere Pro Not Responding." I've tried cutting, pasting, and relinking my clips, which isn’t working. I seem to be having trouble keeping other projects open as well. I've got plenty of space on my C drive, as well as the external drive that the project is on. (My Recovery drive has only 1.15 GB out of 14 GB free, but I heard it's normal for that to be full.)

I looked on another forum, which said the problem might also be electricity. I am in China right now so the voltage is different, but the program worked with my laptop and power cord for quite a while before it started quitting on me. (Also, I have tried opening Premier projects just working off the battery and they still crashed.)

Any suggestions?

How to properly freeze frame on text (Titles) in Premiere Pro CS3?

$

Hello, I have a problem with text in premiere. If I create a title, add it into a video track and freeze it at the first frame (rightclick -> Frame Hold -> Hold on in point), the text appeats unclear with " horizontal lines" through it.

Here is how the text renders when I simply add it to a video track:

PostPre.jpg

This is how it renders if I rightclick it on the video track and set it to hold frame on in point.

PostPost.jpg

The reason I want to freeze frame the text is because it is set as a rolling title, and I need it to stop moving upward for about 5 seconds in the middle of its duration. Anyone know how to accomplish this without the above problem?

note: in the video preview the text appears fine, its only when I render/export the movie that these "lines" appear on the text.

Is it possible to reverse a transitions actions?

Hi,

I was wondering, is there a way to reverse a trasitions actions.. example:

using the split transition it takes Image A, splits it, and then slides both sides to thier respective sides. to reveal image B

What I would like to do is reverse that and have Image A start out split and at each side, showing image B, then have Image A come together to hide Image B.

Is this possible, and how would you do it, if so?

Thanks

Split Audio from Video?

I am trying to edit a video and is there a way that I can cut out video and move it to another location in the timeline WITHOUT touching the audio?  Whenever I use the razor tool to cut out video, it splits the audio as well.  How do I move video around my timeline without the audio being split or moved?  Thanks.

Premiere CS4 vs Full HD YouTube (BEST quality) settings?

Windows Vista Premium (32-bit)

Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 (Version 4.2)

Hello. I have a problem. I've been using this settings to save my work for youtube:

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/6816/settingsr.png

Now, here is a quality that I get with it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2teDL4MPS_8

I've been playing around with the settings and somehow today I saved this file:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMBixEnweWQ

I have no idea what I've changed, but the quality difference is significant!!!

I know the text is a little tiny bit smaller in the better quality one and it was move a couple of pixels, but that's not the point. I am 100% sure it has to do something with the settings.

Here are properties for both files:

http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9373/propertiesz.png

It is kind off strange because a "Good Quality.mp4" files has a better quality over "Bad Quality.mp4" yet it has a smaller Size as well as Data rate and Total bitrate (highlighted in red)

I've even tried doing this hoping it would increase the quality. Maybe it did, but not significantly. Not nearly as good as the "Good Quality.mp4"

http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/4366/settings2.png

Here is a GSpot screen shot as well:

http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/7506/gspot.png

What could be an issue? Can you guys help me work my settings in Adobe Premiere CS4? It is one of those situations where I don't care about files size... I want to quality and I wanted it the finest.

Thanks... All help is greatly appreciated...

Hi people,

I recently downloaded and installed the Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 Tryout version from the net. However, when I try to uninstall the program after the trial period is over, the system require from me a set of serial number (which I don't remember having). As such I was not able to uninstall the Tryout and I do want to uninstall it, anybody is able to help me out here?

Many thanks in advance =)

How To Lighten (or darken) Certain Sections of Footage!

$

Hi,

I transfered a video (which was actually converted from 8mm reel tape I believe long ago) into Pro via a DV connection.  I recorded the entire duration of the video straight into Pro (as the setting: DV 32-audio), and it is on my computer as an .avi file.  So I just wanted to find out:

1. THIS is my MAIN question - Is there a way to now lighten or darken just certain sections of this video (in the timeline) - as some of the footage from the late-1940's is very dark (or quite light a few times too)?!

and 2.  What setting do I use for exporting to burn onto a DVD (I have actually not burned any edited footage from Pro to DVD yet)!

Thank You Very Much..

How do I create a title whose size matches my video frame size?

How do I create a 1920x1080 title?

I'm using Premiere Pro CS4 on Windows 7.  I created a default title.  If I right-click on the title in the Project Explorer and select properties, it says:

  Title Size: 720 x 480
  Pixel Depth: 32
  Pixel Aspect Ratio: 0.9091

If I drag this title onto a sequence onto a sequence created from the "AVHCD 1080i30 (60i)" preset then the title is automagically scaled to try to get it to fit into the 1920x1080 frame, resulting in a tiny title centered in the frame.  I can make things better by right-clicking the title in the timeline and selecting "Scale to frame size", but that's not a particularly elegant solution (and the title, as displayed in the title editor, still doesn't exactly match the title displayed in the previous monitor).

How do I create and edit a title whose size matches my video frame size?
