Premiere Pro CS3 Appalling Lag please help

$

Hi there, I'm having real problems with lag in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. To call the video playback issues 'lag' would be an insult to lag its so bad. In a brand new project, with one clip imported, the preview screen playes at a rate of about 1 frame per 10 seconds. The audio is fine, but the video barely moves at all. This makes it totally impossible to edit anything, because I cannot see the video at all.

I'm not being stupid trying to run the software on a low-performance machine, my specs are:

HP DV5-1111ea laptop

AMD Turion X2 64 processor

ATI Radeon HD 3450 Graphics Card

250GB hard drive (120GB free)

4 GB RAM

Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit version)

My computer is capable of running High Definition video games, and I can't believe that Premiere Pro would require so much more power. I think that it may be my video card as it has been fussy with other software in the past.

I would really appreciate any help that you can give me, I need to be able to use the editing suite for my film studies A Level, and I think other people must have had this problem too.

CS4 audio pitch shifter shifts audio track in time (not just pitch)?

Somebody please try this:

Create an audio only sequence (actually I think any type of sequence would work).

Put some audio into audio track 1 (control track)

put the same audio into track 2. Now you have two identical audio tracks.

drop an audio pitch shifter into track 2. Make sure formant preserve is checked in the effects control; leave the other settings unchanged. I.e. the pitch shifter should shift by zero, meaning it should do nothing.

Click the arrows next to each audio track so you can see their wave forms. All two tracks should look lined up even when zoom to "frame" level

When exported, the two tracks would go out of sync. There are two ways to reveal this:

Way 1: put track 1 on left channel and track 2 on right channel. Export both tracks into a wav file. If played, there is obvious echo between left and right channel. Or import it back into premiere and look at the left and right channel difference.

Way 2: export only track 2. Then import it back to premiere and put it into track 3. Compare track 2 and 3 and there is about "5 frames" or 1/6 second difference between the two tracks.

Does rendering stops when the computer/laptop locks? And what's the fastest way to render a 13 min movie in Adobe Premiere.. Does Media Encoder help?

Importer Process Server

This is so frustrating. I have done a search for this but none of the posts were helpful as per this:

IPSCapture.JPG

The issue is that there is not even an event log for this crash. Yes I have restarted the computer to no avail.

The only solution I have found to to re-install the software, but it will only work until I import files, and this will happen the next time I open the app. I can even open the original files where I imported files before, work on it, save it, export it. I can open as many previously created files that I want, as long as I do not import any files. Don't matter where I import them from, could be a DVD, my hard drive or my camera. This is incredibly frustrating.

Anyways, I have PPCS4 (all updates), Vista Ultimate (all updates), Asus P5K Mobo, 8Gb RAM, 5 Hard Drives, Adobe Master Collection CS4 (all updates). All my other applications work fine, have tons of free space, no crap on the system.

File video dimensions (width/height) too large.

I am currently evaluating Pro CS4 coming off of Power Director. In Power Director I imported multiple ".MPG" files that imported fine. I was able to create a sequence and publish to DVD. I am not a professional editor but do appreciate the professional qualities and feel of Pro CS4 and am looking to stop using Power Director.

When using the Media Browser, I navigate to the folder where the .MPG files are located and select them. I get an error that reads "File video dimensions (width/height) too large.

Can someone assist me in the correct file format to convert these to so Pro CS4 can import? I currently have Movavi installed for a converter. I have not purchased it and would gladly take recommendations from all of you prior to purchase.

Thanks,

Johnny

Audio not showing up - Premiere Pro CS4

Hello. I've just noticed a problem where my audio doesn't show up in the audio tracks. I know it's there because I can hear it when I run playback, but I can't see it. It happens whether the audio is attached to a video or is just a plain old audio file. Here's a picture to show what I mean:

Problem.jpg

The first video has audio attached to it, and I've placed audio under the last video, but they're not showing up. I can hear them, but not see them.

I run Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with four gigs of RAM, my processor is an AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-52 1.60 GHz and my graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1250.

Does anyone know what to do? If you need anymore information just ask.

How to transcode Canon 5D mark II H.264 video into something editable?

$

QT Pro v7.5 plays my 5Dm2 native video files just fine. Premiere CS4 however... unusable. I've heard that transcoding the H.264 40Mbps videos to another format allows a better editing experience.

Hardware:
Dell Precision 690, 1 quad-core 3GHz processor, 12GB RAM, 15000 rpm SAS system drive, 1TB SATA video disk (non-RAID), 1TB SATA temp disk (non-RAID), Quadro FX 3500 graphics card (non-CUDA unfortunately)

Question is... what is the most efficient format to transcode into?

A tutorial on Vimeo for Final Cut Pro on a mac mentions HDCAM EX as a format to use. (http://www.vimeo.com/2373679)
I don't see that option as shown on the Mac from my Vista box using either Adobe Media Encoder CS4 or MPEG Streamclip v1.2.

If I start a project in Premiere CS4 using the HDCAM EX 1080p presets, what is the corresponding Media Encoder format to choose for converting my clips before importing to Premiere?

I'm currently testing the following output format in AME:
MPEG2 Blu-Ray: 1920x1080,23.976 fps, Progressive, Quality 5, no audio, VBR 2-pass, bitrate setings of 25 min 35 target 40 max.

Has anyone determined a transcoding process that provides full HD quality while maintaining any ability to scrub and edit Canon 5D mark II video in Premiere CS4?

No audio when importing .mov file recorded in Skype

I'm supposed to edit a video that was created in Skype. I had them save it as a .mov file. It plays fine when I play the file on my desktop. However, when I import it into my Premiere project (I'm running Premiere Pro CS3) and preview it, there's no audio. There's also no audio when I play it on the timeline, or when I export it as a WMV or AVI. There is no waveform pattern in the audio timeline in Premiere either The person who created the video is in Omaha and I'm in Denver, so I can't really go check his settings. Any ideas?

Exporting HD as .mov (Quicktime) in CS4

I use Premiere Pro CS4 on a PC.  The only choices for exporting using Quicktime are DV formats.  I have been told that by buying Quicktime 7 Pro, I would be able to find some codecs to export HD footage as .mov.  (Of course, .H264 is alread offered, but the compression is too great for my purposes).  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Specifically, by downloading Quicktime 7 Pro, do HD choices magically appear in the menu when Quicktime is chosen as Premiere's export format?

56 Transitions and 21 Effects missing in Mac version of PrCS4

Most formats I import are either choppy and/or have no audio on the timeline

I think the camera I have may be the problem. Its a Toshiba xcamilliox400 (I m not home right now so I hope Im spelling that right). It records in Full HD 1080p and I'm pretty sure imports them in an mpeg format. I've already had a lot of trouble with the mpeg formats, and I'm just now getting them to work a little. I can get them on the timeline, but most of the time they end up being very choppy and while you can hear the audio, there nothing on the audio timeline so i can't edit it. I tried converting the formats, and while that works out sometime it still doesnt slove the problem because now the video tends to be a much smaller size then it should be. I ve tried a bunch of diffirent presets. Should I juts try recording in a lower resoultion or buy a new camera completely? (sorry bout the spelling eerrors i had to be quick about this)

ImporterProcessServer.exe has stopped working

Hello,

I have had so many problems trying to export an eight minute video that I created. I was hoping to finish it for the people I created it for tonight, so I could give it to them tomorrow, but all I have had is one problem after another with Premiere Pro CS4.

My latest problem is this error message that comes up nearly every time I try to work in Premiere CS4.

***************************************************************************

ImporterProcessServer.exe has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

***************************************************************************

One of my video files has no audio, I keep getting the error message above, and so on.

How is one supposed to get any work done with all these errors and problems?

Help would be appreciated.

How to extend length of time line in a sequence/New sequence only 10 minutes prior to adding clips

$

1) I can't figure out how to extend the length of a new sequence in Premiere Pro CS4 on a Macbook Pro.  The default Sequence (Sequence 1) is about 40 minutes (prior to adding any footage/clips).  When I added Sequence 2, the timeline of Sequence 2 was about 20 minutes (prior to adding any footage/clips).  When I add Sequence 3, it's only 10 minutes long (prior to adding any footage/clips).  How can I make it longer?

The reason I ask is that my footage material in Sequence 1 ends at about 7:00:00 and my footage in Sequence 2 starts at 7:30:00 and ends around 10:00:00....I want to start inserting footage/clips in Sequence 3 starting at 10:30:00.

I'm not sure why I want to do this. I'm under the impression that you shouldn't put footage in a sequence that would occur at the same time as other footage in another sequence b/c if you nest them later, footage will be overlapping or covering up other footage.  I don't know...maybe it's fine to just insert the footage/clips right at 00:00:00 in a new sequence...but b/c I don't know exactly how I'm going to meld all this footage together when done w/all my sequences...I'm erring on the side of caution.  b/c my system is slow (and I’ve heard nesting sequences slows things down even more)...I might have to bounce out each sequence as a .mov or .mp4 and then insert each resultant bounced out sequence into a new fresh project and meld them together that way.  I'd rather not.  Maybe it's stupid to work this way but nevertheless...I still want to know how to lengthen the available space in a sequence.

2) Bonus Questions:

Bonus question A: What is the keyboard shortcut on a macbook pro to go to the beginning of the time line?

Bonus question B: If you have a sequence and there's no footage/clips until 7:30:00, how can you set it up so that every time you go to that sequence the "cursor" always defaults to being at the beginning of any footage/clips, (i.e., 7:30:00 in this example)?

Here’s my system specs:

2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo – 2009 Macbook Pro
4GB 1067/MHz DDR3
280 Gb HD – 5400rpm
OS X 10.6.4

Droverlord / Dr. Overlord P-Pro Crashing

I am experiencing a problem with Droverlord or Dr. Overlord error. After I have completed editing a sequence and begin rendering it in Encoder it sluggishly works for a while and then gives up.  At the same time P. Pro freezes "Not Responding" and finally quits.  When I try to "Close" P.Pro I can see in the icon in the bottom bar that the PPro icon has a second iteration open.  When I try to see what it is I see a ghost of the PPro time point indicator on my desk top and sometimes a faint transparent box around it, the thumbnail in Win7 says “DroverLord Overlay Window Error”.

Does anyone have an idea what this is all about and how to fix/eradicate the problem?  I’ve seen several posting but could not find a resolution.

Hi all,

As you are aware I am giving out Karma points again so I hope that lots of good things have been going to all my helpers. I am editing an interview that I did and there are quite a number of "umms"  as in ( I was walking down the street and "umm" I decided to go to the "umm shop"  ect - you get my point) in the audio and was wondering if anyone has an idea on how to minimise this without the audio turning off completely for a second or so?

Any help would be GREAT!
